HISTORY OF JAMMU
According to Indian texts, Jammu is called Duggar Pradesh. There are 10 districts in Jammu division. Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Doda, Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, Ramban and Kishtwar.
The total area of Jammu is 36,315 sq km. Its area of about 13,297 sq km is occupied by Pakistan. He did this capture during the war of 1947-1948. Jammu’s Bhimber, Kotli, Mirpur, Poonch Haveli, Bagh, Sudhanti, Muzaffarabad, Hattian and Haveli districts are under Pakistani occupation.
Jammu was divided into 22 hill states. Dogra ruler Raja Maldev established his vast kingdom by conquering many areas.
Raja Ranjit Dev ruled Jammu from 1733 to 1782, but his successors were weak, so Maharaja Ranjit Singh annexed Jammu to Punjab.
In 1947, Jammu and Kashmir was ruled by the Dogra rulers. After this Maharaj Hari Singh signed the agreement of merger with the Indian Union on 26 October 1947.
The merger of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir took place on 26 October 1947, almost two months after the British left in the new administrative system of the country. That too, when the princely state was attacked by the Pakistani army in the form of tribals and captured a large part of it.
Jammu is also called the extension of Punjab-Himachal. Starting from the other bank of the Ravi river at Pathankot in Punjab, the region of Jammu extends to the hills of Pir Panchal.
The Jammu division ends in the mountain range of Pir Panchal. Kashmir begins on the other side of this hill.
Jammu and Kashmir is in the north of India. Kashmir is known for its beautiful valleys and heaven on earth, while Jammu is famous for Mata Vaishno Devi Temple.

Amar Mahal Palace
Amar Mahal Palace is located in Jammu which remains the center of attraction among tourists. It was constructed in the 19th century. This palace, which belonged to Raja Amar Singh of the Dogra Empire, is built with red sandstone. This palace has now been converted into a museum. There are more than 25 thousand ancient books in this museum. There are also museums and art collections here.
If going to Jammu with family, then visiting Manda Zoo located here would be a better option. Kids will love this place. Manda Zoo is also known as Manda Deer Park.
There are many animals here, which not only children but adults are also excited to see. About four to five varieties of peacock are present in this park.

Bahu Fort is situated in Jammu Tawi itself. The Bahu Fort, situated on the banks of the Tawi River, is the oldest fort in Jammu-Tawi. Apart from being historically important, this fort also has a lot of religious importance.
It is said that there is also an ancient Kali Mata temple inside this fort, which is also called by the local people as ‘Bawe Wali Mata‘. Local people believe that this fort was built by Raja Bahu Lochan and after some years Dogra kings ruled it.

Dogra Art Museum
The Dogra Art Museum, located in Jammu itself, houses 7500 important artifacts of historical, mythological and cultural importance. However, due to space constraints, only 2500 artifacts are displayed. About 5000 artifacts have not been displayed till date.
Situated at an altitude of 1560 m above sea level, at a distance of 15 km from Katra, in the Trikuta Hills is the holy cave temple of Mata Vaishno Devi. Mata Vaishno Devi Temple is a popular pilgrimage site in jammu as well as across India, where thousands of pilgrims visit every year to visit Vaishno Devi.
Let us tell you, Vaishno Devi is a religious pilgrimage site, where pilgrims has to cover distance 13 km on foot.
Patnitop is a very beautiful hills spot which is located in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. This place is very quiet and beautiful. The atmosphere here with dense deodar trees and winding paths always attracts travelers.
You will feel lost in the calm and picturesque environment. Along with this, there are also three springs of fresh water, whose water is basically very cold. Apart from this, the water of these springs is also believed to have medicinal properties. This place is also famous for skiing, trekking and other things.
A name has been given to two small villages in Ramban district of Jammu which are ‘Sun’ and ‘Saar’. This place is 20 KM from Patnitop. Is situated at this distance. Surrounded by valleys and beautiful hills, this place is very beautiful.
Along with this, the ancient Nag Shank Pal temple is also located on the Shank Pal hill, which is at a height of about 2897 feet.
This temple is about 400 years old. Apart from this, you can also do many other activities here, including trekking, mountain climbing etc.
Bhaderwah This place is so famous that it is known as ‘Mini Kashmir’. Here one can see the Himalayan valleys spread all around, snow cover and beautiful pastures spread far and wide. Bhadergah is a town located in the Doda district of Kashmir.
Nagni Mata Temple, Alalbani Temple, Thumbu Baba Temple etc. are famous here. There are also many beautiful waterfalls here which will be a very pleasant experience to see. Also this place is the main place to start the journey of Mount Kailash. Various festivals and festivals are also organized at this place in the month of April.
Bani: The main tourist destination of the district i.e. Sarthal is like a lap of nature. People are seen having fun at this place full of cool and greenery.
