Katra to Vaishno Devi Ropeway – 6 Hours Journey reduce to 6 Minutes.

The new ropeway project will take pilgrims to the Vaishno Devi temple in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It will now take just six minutes to travel the 12 kilometers (around 3–4 hours) from the base camp to the temple.

The project, a partnership between the state government and a company, will have a maximum hourly capacity of 5,000 passengers.

Each of the 25 cabins in the ropeway system will carry 16 passengers and have a maximum speed of 7 meters per second. The system is built to function even in unfavorable weather, like strong winds and snowfall.

The initiative is expected to increase tourism sector and facilitate for those with physical issues when it relates to traveling to the temple.

Hindu pilgrims frequently travel to the Vaishno Devi temple, which receives about 10 million visits annually. One of the most sacred sites in Hinduism, the temple is situated in the Trikuta Mountains.

It is estimated that the project will be finished in 3 years. Interestingly, a ropeway from the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Trikuta Hills to the Bhairon Temple situated on another hilltop was opened two years ago.
